Arrival in Monteverde

We left the Don Carlos just after 10am, as intended. It was a stark contrast from our last trip, on which we waited at the hotel for a long time for our ride to arrive.

Eager to set off on the journey

We then hit the road and stopped once along the way, about 2.5 hours into the journey, for lunch. We were there awhile and enjoyed a relaxing meal - joined by a shy little lettuce-eating iguana. After our meal, we set off on the final hour of our drive, capturing some fascinating photos, as we always do.

As we always do, we got a group shot on the drive up

That's the Pacific Ocean

Gratuitous second group shot from an alternate location on the way

We arrived in Monteverde just before 4pm. Students (and faculty) were delivered to families at a the home where Ella is staying, and then they took off. That's where we stand right now - all of us scattered around one neighborhood in Monteverde. We will see each other again at 7:45am tomorrow. For now, though, we are hanging out with our host families!

Trini reunited with her family - her 7th time with them!
